1006 Longtian Shrine 1006

The 2021 Luye Story Festival, organized by the Taitung County Government's Cultural Affairs Department, kicked off in the mountainside of Luye. It was a welcoming change of scenery for event-goers to be able to breathe in the fresh mountain air as our masked restraints became lessened.

Guided Bike Tour - Stroll Through Memory Lane

Hop on a bicycle and follow a Longtian local guide to experience a different side of Luye. The tour began at the restored historical Luye Town Office built in1920 during the Japanese Colonial Rule period. Every spring, visitors flock here to admire the tung blossoms sprouting from the tung trees lining the main entrance. The tour guides unravel the history of each spot visited while participating residents reenact stories at each location. As a result, participants immerse themselves in the compelling, rich tales about the history of Luye. Stories unfold right in front of their eyes, from the Longtian Grass Field where paragliders and hot air balloons land or the restored ancient ruin of the Longtian Shrine.

Theatrical Workshop by Yi Mai Cultural & Creative Studio

The proscenium play by Yi Mai Cultural & Creative Studio began with the legend that lovers who hold each other's hands in front of the Luye Shrine three times will be able to be together forever. Everyone in the audience was mesmerized as the plot thickened. The theatrical play was accompanied by the narrator's recounting of Luye's history and the live musical performance by the SanGouDaHouSheng band.

Natural Monotype Fabric Workshop

Hakka textile natural dye artist Fu Chu Chu leads the Natural Monotype Workshop. First, students learned a tabbing method to transfer flowers and leaves' natural forms and shapes onto fabrics. Then, natural dyes and pigment colors derived from local indigenous plants such as Oolong tea (brown), turmeric (yellow), and Roselle (red) were applied to the finished monotype fabric to add explosions of vibrant colors and hues.

Destination 2021 Luye

Project Exhibition for Destination 2011 Luye was set up just next to the main stage area, displaying detailed documentation of all the innovative projects and events happening in Luye. The exhibition was an excellent way for event-goers to learn about all the great things happening in Luye.
